The
first obstacle to clear when
trying to sell your street rod
(or any other car for that
matter) is to be REALISTIC. Find
out how much other cars like
yours are selling for and set a
realistic price on the car. I've
seen many cars sell here and at
the shows because the owner
priced the car with the full
knowledge of what his car was
worth. Look around at the shows
and on the internet. There are a
lot of websites that showcase
street rods for sale. With good
descriptions and pictures you
can get a good idea of what your
car will bring in the
marketplace. If you're still
unsure, get a good reputable
street rod shop to appraise your
car. It will be worth the money
you spend for an appraisal if
the car sells in a short amount
of time. When a new ad comes in,
I can usually guess how long it
will take to sell by the
information that's given and the
price of the car. Several
Feature and Showcase Ads have
sold recently that were
realistically priced and quality
cars that sold within two months
of being listed.
The
second hurdle is to get the
information out there. Naturally
take the car to shows so it can
be seen, but also use websites
like this one and others to get
it seen by thousands of people
looking for street rods to buy.
It's very common for cars to
sell to buyers across the
country who don't mind traveling
to find the right car. The
internet is the perfect medium
for getting your car sold. There
are lots of sites on the
internet that offer you paid and
free ads like I do on this site.
REMEMBER, you get what you pay
for! For example. The Feature
Ads on this site are $100.00.
There's a reason for that. They
show on EVERY PAGE OF THE
WEBSITE. More cars sell from the
Feature and the Showcase Ads than all the others
combined. Mainly because of the
visibility and also because the
Feature Ads have lots more
pictures for you to see the car.
The Showcase Ad doesn't show on
every page, but it's right on
the front page and it's the
first thing the visitor sees
when he enters the site.
Use
all the resources at your
disposal. Use the free for sale
services on any website you can
find, and use the paid ads that
get the car more exposure. Let's
face it, in the grand scheme of
things, if you're selling a 20K
- 80K car and up, what's a
little money to get it sold?
But, be sure to write down which
websites you advertise it on and
let them know when the car gets
sold. Too many times the ads on
this site and on others have
outdated ads because we were
never told that car has been
sold.
Whether
you use this site or another
doesn't matter. Be realistic
with the price of your car, get
the information to the buyers
and you'll sell your car!
