Duke Holdsworth's '40 Ford Pickup - NOT for Sale

Duke Holdsworth has been building this '40 Ford Pickup for a long time. That's the way most home built rod projects get finished, a little work and money at a time with great patience from the builder. You can see some early pictures of this buildup here. This '40 is almost complete now, lacking only the interior, but Duke is rolling. Here's some more pictures and info from Duke on his pickup.

1940 Ford Pick Up. [Owner built]

Some of the specs on the truck:

Body mods include doors shaved, nose stretched, every seam- joint and hole I could find got filled or welded solid, all original steel I piece tilt nose, (a 3 year project in itself),  rear roll pan with frenched '50 Pontiac blue dots.

(Learned how to do body work)

Paint is GM truck Indigo Blue Pearl, base/clear, (learned how to paint too)

Front suspension is a narrowed Fat Man crossmember with Heidts tubular stainless upper and lowers with coil overs and full size disc brakes, rear is a Currie 9" - 3.00:1  with parallel leafs and Ford drums all on a reworked original '35-'40 frame with C.E. X-member and brake booster.

Flathead came out of a 1946 pu, (still up behind my woodshed), is now 276 ci  built by Motor City Flathead, with a merc crank, ¾ grind cam and a pair of Holly 94's on top.

Odds and ends include a dash made from 1/4" thick copper buss bar, custom built banjo steering wheel, window sills from a 1954 Woodie, seats are a $50 "junk yard find" from a 1994 Toyota 4Runner, Ball cap is a swap meet piece from a Plymouth with hand made stainless end trim. All the hardware is Stainless, including grade 8 at the suspension, brackets are all hand made from S.S. or Aluminum.

The interior is next in line but I'm driving it now and that's what counts.
