What
is Fit and Finish? Mainly, it's
the way the car is put together.
Do the body lines match? How
much gap is there on the doors
and trunk? Does the hood fit
properly? These are things that
are an underlying clue as to how
well the car was constructed.
Although some of these things
can seem trivial, the amount of
time that a builder spends
making sure everything fits
right can be tremendous. I've
seen builders spend days getting
the gaps right on the doors. As
a general rule, when you see a
car that has inconsistent gaps
and body lines, this is a clue
that the builder wasn't a
professional. This is not meant
to put down the home builder,
only that things like this
affect PRICE. A professionally
built car that has had many,
many hours spent on fit and
finish will bring more money in
the marketplace. There are lots
of home builders just as good as
the professionals and their cars
will also bring the big dollars
if the car is constructed well.
Let's
look at it like this, if the
builder spent a lot of time on
fit and finish, it stands to
reason that the rest of the car
was built with the same
attention to detail
